Privacy Policy

This policy explains what Remmebr collects, why, and the choices you have. Remmebr ("Remmebr", "we", "us") is operated by Mariah Waslie. Questions? Email mariah@remmebr.com.

1. Information we collect

We keep data collection to what the product actually needs:

Account information. When you request access or sign in, we collect your email address. We use passwordless sign-in (a one-time link or code sent to your email), so we do not store passwords. If you join the waitlist, we store the email and any short note you submit until you are approved or removed.
Content you create. Topics, notes, flashcards, quizzes, AI-generated study materials you keep in the app, extracted document text, highlights, handwriting pages and strokes, and related study data are stored so the app can sync them to your account. When you are signed in, original files you upload (such as PDFs and images) are also stored in a private cloud folder tied to your account so you can open them on another device.
Device inputs you choose to use. If you use voice practice, lecture recording, or similar features, the app accesses the microphone and processes the audio you capture. If you upload photos or images of notes or figures for AI features, those images are processed as described below. Remmebr does not access the camera unless a future feature asks for that permission and you grant it.
Usage events. We record basic activity (such as when a study session or an AI request happens) to run features like usage limits and to understand, in aggregate, how the app is used. These events are tied to an account identifier, not to the names of your topics. We do not store the full text of your notes or AI prompts in these usage logs.
Payment information. If you subscribe on the web, payment is handled by Stripe. If you subscribe in the iOS app, payment is handled by Apple through In-App Purchase. We never see or store your full card number. We receive plan status and limited transaction references needed to activate and prevent abuse of a subscription.

2. How we use your information

To provide the app, sync your data, and keep you signed in.
To power AI features you choose to use (see "Third-party services" and "AI features and your study materials" below).
To enforce plan limits and prevent abuse (for example, request rate limits).
To communicate with you about your account, access requests, and important service updates.
To improve Remmebr based on aggregate, non-identifying usage.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.

3. Third-party services

Remmebr runs on a small number of trusted providers. Your data may be processed by them only to deliver the service:

Supabase — database, authentication, and file storage.
Vercel — application hosting and API routes.
Resend — transactional email (for example, sign-in links and account messages).
Metricool — supplemental website traffic analytics. When you visit a Remmebr web page, a Metricool script runs in the background and sends an anonymous page-view signal (the page URL, your browser's viewport size, and the referring page) to Metricool's tracker. It does not receive your account identity, notes, or study content, and it is separate from Remmebr's own product analytics. You can disable it in your browser (for example, by blocking the tracker.metricool.com domain) without affecting any Remmebr feature.
Stripe — payment processing for web subscriptions.
Apple — In-App Purchase and subscription billing when you buy inside the iOS app; Apple also processes the App Store account data associated with that purchase.
AI providers (OpenAI and/or DeepSeek). When you use an AI feature, the relevant inputs are sent to the provider to generate a response. Depending on the feature, that can include study text (notes, document excerpts, handwriting transcripts), learner answers you submit for feedback, images you choose to analyze, audio you record for transcription, or short text chunks used for semantic search embeddings on paid plans. Do not use AI features with information you would not want processed by these providers (for example, highly sensitive personal data, or course materials you are not allowed to share with a processor).

Provider retention and training practices are governed by those providers' terms and your (or our) agreement with them. Remmebr does not claim that AI processing is "private AI," end-to-end encrypted, or never stored by a provider.

4. AI features and your study materials

AI is optional and runs only when you use a feature that needs it (for example, generating practice, coaching, grading an answer, transcribing audio, or analyzing an image). Remmebr sends the minimum context the feature needs for that request. Usage metering records that a request happened and related metadata (such as feature name or token counts), not the full prompt body.

On some paid plans, short excerpts of your materials may be converted into embedding vectors to improve retrieval. Those vectors may be cached on your device. They are removed when you delete your account from that device (or clear the app's local storage).

5. Cookies and local storage

Remmebr uses your browser or app local storage (and cookies where applicable) to keep you signed in, store preferences (like light/dark mode), cache study data and document binaries on-device, and queue sync work. These are required for the app to function. For aggregate traffic analytics we use Metricool, which loads an anonymous page-view beacon on our web pages (see "Third-party services"); we do not use third-party advertising cookies or cross-site ad tracking.

6. Data retention

We keep your account data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account (or ask us to), we remove your personal data and study content from our systems — including synced notes, uploaded files, handwriting, and usage events tied to your account — except where we must retain limited records (for example, App Store transaction identifiers and related fraud-prevention ledger fields needed for accounting or abuse prevention). Those retained records do not include your notes, documents, images, audio, or chat content.

Deleting your Remmebr account does not cancel an active subscription by itself. Cancel web subscriptions in Settings → Manage subscription (Stripe), or cancel App Store subscriptions in your Apple ID subscription settings, before or after deleting the account if you no longer want to be billed.

7. Your rights and choices

You can delete your account in the app under Settings → Delete account. You can also request access, correction, export, or deletion by emailing mariah@remmebr.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA/CPRA (California), including the right to object to certain processing. We honor these requests as required by applicable law.

8. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections and access controls. Secret keys are held only on the server and are never sent to your browser. Study content is stored with account-based access controls; it is not end-to-end encrypted. No method of storage or transmission is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.

9. Children

Remmebr is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect their personal information. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

10. International users

Remmebr is operated from United States, and your information may be processed there and in other countries where our providers operate. By using Remmebr, you consent to this transfer and processing.

11. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date above, and for material changes we will make a reasonable effort to notify you.
